Tom Crayton

Tom is the managing member for Crayton & Vilt. With over 35 years of experience in public accounting, he has prepared or reviewed literally hundreds of returns including corporate, partnership, estate, trust, non-profit and personal returns. Tom’s favorite industry for tax and accounting services has been real estate; mainly commercial real estate. He has extensive experience with Section 1031 tax-free exchanges. In addition to managing the firm, Tom is also in charge of accounting and bookkeeping that the staff prepares for clients.

One of Tom’s favorite professional services he provides is to help client companies achieve their financial goals. He does this by assisting them with tax planning, financial statement preparation, forecasting, decision-making regarding buy/lease equipment or facilities, and obtaining funding. Most of the time the funding is with banks but sometimes with venture capital companies.

Tom graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in accounting. Tom also obtained his Series 6, health insurance, and Group One life insurance licenses while he worked as an insurance agent with New York Life Insurance Company from 1997 to 2005. Tom’s pastimes are hunting, racquetball, travel, motorcycle trail bike riding, carpentry, and golf.
